Home > 11.6 Netbook11.6 Netbook ListingsIn 2011, largely thanks to the 11 netbook MacBook Air, which is 11.6 inches and super slim, this is a growing segment of the netbook market. In other words, if you seek an 11" netbook, you will have some great selection. Understand though that the 11" netbook models are premium netbooks and come with more features including things like Windows 7 Home Premium, faster processors, more hard drive space and more RAM. With that said, I'm a big fan of the 11 netbook size because of the HD displays and the full size keyboard. 11.6 netbook seems to strike the perfect balance between usability and portability. Coming up in the following weeks? 11 netbook and 11.6 netbook model reviews and news updates. All the top brands like Acer and others. Most of the main laptop manufacturers have a premium netbook model in the 11" size. I'm passionate about netbooks. I love the portability and size of a fully functional computer known as a netbook. In the beginning, netbooks were 7, 8 and 9 inches for the most part. Then recently, they have settled at 10.1" size. Most people are unaware of the power that companies hold over the manufacturers. They dictate what their processors can be used in and what specs you must work with. So Intel who created the netbook Atom processor ultimately had restrictions on the size netbooks. Recently, Intel relaxed their restrictions. It's confusing yes, because there were a few 11.6 netbook computers that came to market and even a few 12 inch netbooks with Atom from Asus. How did they get permission? Who knows. The point I'm coming to is this. 11.6 netbook computers are the future. How so? It simply comes down to usage. Having an HD display on the 10.1" netbook screen isn't ideal for some, if not most users. Too small and washed out is the most common complaints. So, I would argue that the world is going HD. You can't argue that fact. YouTube etc have 720p yes, but 1080p is more and more the norm. That trend will simply not stop. So what about these 10.1" netbooks with non HD display? You tell me. I say they don't cut the mustard. Just like the 7, 8, and 9" netbooks of the years past, 10" netbooks just don't deliver for the needs of what people will be using them for. So in summary, 11.6 netbook computers are the future for 2 primary reasons. First, the world is going HD and netbooks will need HD capable display without compromising the experience. That simply isn't possible on the 10.1" form factor. Second, you can fit a full size keyboard and bigger touch pad on the 11.6" netbook. Pretty darn solid reasoning in my books. Of course you are going to have these so called "experts" claiming that 11.6 inches isn't a netbook anymore. If you want to keep waving that flag, then get ready to shut down your sites and your netbook niche. An 11.6 netbook can probably do everything that the 10.1" netbook can do. You can get an 11.6 netbook down to the same thickness. You can get an 11.6 netbook down to about the same weight. You can get an 11.6 netbook to give you a very very high level of battery life. Sure, you will lose a bit of battery life in comparison to the 10.1" netbook but when you get all day battery, which is about 7 or 8 hours, who cares about getting 10+ hours? Big deal I say. Lastly, sure you might be paying a bit more for that 11.6 netbook but based on the benefits, it's worth it. More functionality for a portable computer will prove worth the extra price. People are stuck in the netbook = cheap rubbish. Netbook = portable computere. Nothing more, nothing less. So if Intel does in fact allow the 11.6 Atom based netbooks to come to market, I can't see how they could fail. It seems that Apple will once again have to show everyone the way. The upcoming 11.6 MacBook Pro will certainly prove that premium netbooks are in demand. As we are just launching this page, expect a lot of content over the next few weeks. Those are essentially the main differences between what you're getting in the common 11.6 netbook vs. the 10" netbook computers.
