Apple Netbook #1 For Apple Netbook Resources

Update:

If you're looking for an Apple netbook, you have one choice so far. The 11.6 netbook, with a heavy emphasis on premium, the 11.6 MacBook Air is a beauty for sure. Certainly the Apple netbook is the cream of the cop which is typical of Apple. You could easily make the argument that the Apple netbook from 2010 really started the premium netbook push in the 11.6 netbook form factor.

The fact is currently in 2011 you're not going to find a thinner 11.6 netbook on the market. If you're open to the Apple OS, then the 11.6 MacBook Air is the ultimate in portability. You may have noticed a lot more of these Apple netbooks at your local coffee shop. I certainly have!

October 20, 2010 - The worst kept secret has become a reality. The Apple netbook is a reality. This is no run of the mill netbook, but rather a full premium netbook in 11.6" MacBook Air glory. It's not cheap because it's Apple. You can't make a netbook with the type of build quality and not charge a premium price for it. The 11.6 Apple netbook is 2.3 pounds, has a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo chip and costs $999 for the model with 64GB of memory, and for $1,199 you get 128GB of storage.

Here is a collection of our favorite Apple netbook images so far:

Is the Apple netbook coming to a store near you? Actually, YES it IS!!!
11.6 macbook pro

New! The hot rumor just keeps getting hotter. An Apple netbook or shall we say an 11.6 MacBook Pro is going to be announced at the next Apple event on October 20, 2010. Let's call it a "premium netbook" from Apple. It won't be cheap but it will be amazing. It will be light and it will be powerful. It just makes sense. According to sources, Apple has been receiving a new 11.6 form factor for a while now. Their current supplies and stock of MacBook air have dwindled which is an indicator, according to Apple experts, that a refresh of the MacBook Air is coming. We here at buynetbookcomputer.com just happen to believe that the 11.6 MacBook Air is going to become a reality.

apple netbookOur goal is to be your #1 resource for the Apple netbook. Of course, nothing officially announced yet. We feel strongly that an annoucement is coming in October 2009. Just a hunch on our part.

Should there be an Apple netbook? My thoughts and opinions.

Let's be completely honest about the Apple netbook. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Since there is nothing "official" from Apple regarding a netbook product, we have to assume it's coming. Remember that saying where there is smoke there is fire? It applies to this situation. There have been plenty of Apple netbook rumours around over the past few months. Apple is quite reserved and hush on their products. You can't dispute that they do things right. You could argue the macbook is close to netbook sized, but you need to consider the weight of your average netbook vs. the smallest apple mobile computer. I would suggest they need to come up with an apple netbook that nears the 3 pound and under class of computers. The public wants it and frankly, they deserve it!

Looking through history, one thing is consistent in terms of technology. All devices, gadgets and computers go smaller. Time has proven that smaller is the nature of technology. Looking back on the first generation of iPod, how big was it? How much storage did it have? You know the answer to these questions. Computers are no different. Laptops were thought of as portable. That is, only until netbooks were released onto the market. Now there is a new portable. A new expectation from consumers.

Once you've owned a netbook, you won't go back. Sure, your laptop can be your main computer, but you will leave it at home on the table where it belongs. Taking out a laptop in public is quickly becoming a thing of the past. It would be like me walking around with my original Sony walkman. Would people laugh? Probably. Would I be all red faced? You bet. Would I hide it? Yes. I'm making a point here. Obviously a laptop isn't shameful in public just yet, but with netbook computers here now, the day is coming sooner than you think. Apple is a very forward thinking company and I'm sure they have considered how they can make a splash into the netbook market. Netbook is a name for ultra portable. It's not a name to describle inferior computer.

I'm sure the biggest question on the mind of Apple is whether people will pay extra for an Apple netbook. In my opinion, the answer is a resounding YES. If it's light, small, and of the same quality as every other Apple product, it will be a top selling netbook. Just backtrack to the first generation of iPod. Look what happened. Smaller, lighter, more portable, more storage and yes, a HUGE seller.

What has Apple got to lose by releasing a netbook?

Since about January 2009, there have been many rumors about Apple and netbooks. Will they or won't they? Their #1 man said they wouldn't be able to make money on an Apple netbook so it wasn't something they were considering. That was then, this is now. Months ago, it wasn't clear on the path of the netbook. Has that changed Apples perspective?

Would people be willing to pay a higher price for a better netbook that Apple can produce? Well, ask comsumers if they wish their laptop or macbook was lighter, smaller and more portable. Ask iPod users about what they have done with their first iPod. Remember the size? Remember the storage? Big and small. Big iPod size wise, and small or tiny storage compared to what's out there today. So, let's take the same logic with computers. Consumers seem to want smaller, faster and better. Apple has done it with the iPod, so why not with a netbook?

In September 2009, there again are rumors coming out about an October announcement regarding an Apple netbook. The only real indicator is from part shipping around. Those can be tracked and the volumes of certain parts indicate something is in the works by Apple.

In addition, Apple is releasing Snow Leopard, a tweaked version of Leopard which requires less space. They have done some trimming. Do you wonder why? It certainly opens the door for discussion regarding an Apple netbook. Snow Leopard seems like an ideal operating system for a netbook me thinks. Don't you agree?

If Apple is worried about having an expensive netbook, they need to realize that people are willing to pay a premium for Apple computers. A smaller Apple computer, a Apple netbook to be precise, would likely not sacrifice the quality and horse power that people have come to expect from Apple. If Apple says here is our netbook. It's our smallest computer ever. You will barely lose any functionality with our netbook. People will buy it. Nokia recently announced their Booklet netbook and it's definitely not cheap either. Have no fear Apple!

If you ask a person who has switched from lugging their laptop to taking out a netbook on a daily basis, they will say the same thing. A laptop isn't portable. A netbook is. When you can pack something that is 3 pounds or less vs. a 5-7 pound computer, the choice becomes obvious. The only people who don't understand what the "new portable" is, are stuck on their laptops. Once you've gone netbook, you won't go back. It all comes down to portability. An Apple netbook can be a premium price and will still be the hottest selling netbook on the market.
