Google Netbook aka Chromebook – Bound to fail?
We were with much anticipation as the rumors swirled about the Google netbook. At this point, the unveiling has happened and what you see is the Google Chromebook. We like to call it the Google netbook as you might expect. The Acer Google netbook above has been delayed a month for the release date and it is the cheapest Google netbook at $350.
Samsung Series 5 Chromebook – Samsung Google Netbook Coming Soon!
Although I’m a bit skeptical at the future of the Chromebook, I will review the upcoming Google netbook models upcoming. Here is the Samsung Series 5 netbook. I’m confused whether I’m calling this Samsung Series 5 Chromebook or Samsung Series 5 netbook. I suppose ultimately it’s the consumers who will decide.
Google Netbook Unveiled – Google Cr-48 Netbook
Today Google took the wraps off a 12.1″ Google netbook. Now, this isn’t branded and it’s a limited availability Google netbook during a public beta stage. At this point it’s the first Google netbook but certainly it’s bare bones in look and feel. You can’t buy this in the stores and again, will be only for the beta. These Google netbook cr48 models will be given away by Google through various promotions.
A rundown of the specs include: 12.1-inch screen, full size keyboard, large clickpad, Qualcomm Gobi 3G chip for Verizon data in the US, your carrier of choice internationally, 802.11n dual-band WiFi, 8+ hours of active use, 8+ days of standby, webcam, flash storage.
Chrome OS Netbook Price – Google Netbook Price
So this Tuesday is the start of the chrome os netbook invasion? I have long predicted this day would come. This is the first real true rival to the Microsoft Windows 7 netbook. The biggest point will be the chrome os netbook price.
I’ve been waiting about a year to see this happen. It all makes sense. A chrome os netbook price will be much cheaper than any other netbook seen on the market. In fact, it should be so low that nobody should be without a chrome os netbook. I’m being partially funny, but seriously, if you have kids and you don’t have to spend $300 or $400 on a chrome os netbook, then it makes sense to buy one for your kids.
You are likely going to see a shakeup in the netbook segment because of the chrome os netbook price point. It’s a prediction on my point, but certainly a cheap price is what will give Google an “in” to the world of operating systems and a true competitor to Microsoft and their virtual monopoly.
Chrome OS Netbook – Acer Chrome OS Netbook
This week, on Tuesday, Google is expected to show off their chrome os netbook. Apparently it will be an Acer chrome os netbook with Google branding. The above photo shows off the same keyboard that was part of a Google netbook leak. All indicators point towards a chrome os netbook manufactured by Acer.
So what does this chrome os netbook mean for the netbook segment? The reality is the price point has to be very very low. Since it’s coming with the chrome os, there isn’t that Microsoft Windows 7 expense for the netbook makers. The chrome os netbook invasion is starting Tuesday.
Google Netbook Preview
Yes, this Tuesday word is that the Google netbook will be announced. There is some big Google announcement and a chrome os netbook seems likely. This photo shows an Acer looking keyboard and according to Engadget this is a photo of the Google netbook. Notice the search key which indicates strongly that this is indeed the Google netbook that has been bantered about for a year now.
