This is the second delay for the next Atom processor. It was delayed until October, and now it won’t be showing up in netbooks until early 2012. Should be be skeptical of this delay? Possibly. This next update to the Atom processor is quite major in regards to much improved graphic video performance. If you want to play conspiracy theories, then you might consider that Intel is really focused on their new ultrabook platform and it’s possible that a new Atom netbook is competition that they don’t need right now. Afterall, the ultrabook is a premium portable laptop.
Conspiracy theories aside, there is a lot to like about the next Atom processor. It’s likely the AMD netbook processors have a lot to do with it. So we wait in anticipation for benchmarks and buzz to start for the “next generation” of netbooks.

This is my bold prediction. I do not know the technicalities to solar power or if a netbook is better suited to have solar power than say a full fledged laptop. The upcoming release of the Samsung solar powered netbook has me thinking. The fact is netbooks evolved organically. Is solar power that next evolution?
Tablets are selling and there is doom and gloom with netbooks and even PCs in general. The who area of solar powered netbooks is fascinating if you think about it. Do not underestimate the value in this technology. Nebooks have been popular in third world countries and imagine those places with lacking power options like in villages. A solar powered netbook would be a real game changer. Heck even for myself when camping, a solar powered netbook would be a huge advantage and selling point.
I only hope that this is the next evolution of netbooks. It could be a real selling point and another way for netbooks to remain strong as we head into 2012. For myself, this Samsung netbook is a real surprise as I wasn’t expecting it to come out in North America and the price point is quite excellent. Stay tuned. The next big netbook trend may be solar powered netbooks. Let’s just hope the Samsung model sells well and the others will have to come out with their own solor powered netbook!

Here is the question. Will the best netbook 2012 be a tablet netbook? See that image above? Can you guess if that’s a netbook or a tablet? Is it both? Is it the next generation of netvertible?
To end the suspense, that photo above is the Asus Transformer tablet which is docked into the Eee Station. The Eee Station is a keyboard dock for the tablet which has extra ports and a battery which will recharge the tablet but will also give it up to 16 hours battery life. Want a tablet experience? Simply detach.

We’ve seen a real trend towards sub $300 netbook deals. This will become more and more common in the months ahead into late 2011. We say buying a netbook, you are getting netbook deals without even thinking about it. How so?
Buy a tablet and you’re paying at least $400, but then you need a fancy case. Want a keyboard? You’re looking at paying more than $500 easily. Compare that to netbook deals. Actually just look at any netbook and it looks likeĀ a deal. That’s the point I’m making. It’s the point that a lot of blog and websites are overlooking in their admiration of tablets.
Netbooks are great deals. There is no other way to slice it. You’re often better buying a $114 Kindle ebook reader and that $300 netbook because you’re going to pay less for that combo than a tablet. To me, that’s a great deal. Agree?

Asus Netbook - 101X
The Asus netbook is always evolving. This year at Computex 2011, Asus unveiled a few new Asus netbook models which they describe as evolution. We think we agree with them. This will beĀ a great new upgrade on the Asus netbook line of Eee PC netbooks.
Think thin. Really thin! We’re talking almost as thin as the 11.6 MacBook Air. The Asus X101 and Asus X101h are the thinnest Asus netbook models to date. Not only that but the Asus netbook X101 runs MeeGo which puts the price of this Asus netbook at just $199. Yes, that’s what I said. The Asus netbook X101H is a Windows version of the netbook. There will be an SSD storage option also. I haven’t heard pricing yet on the Windows Asus X101H model as of yet.
The Asus netbook 1025 is the upgrade to the 1015pem or 1015px netbook models. The Asus 1025 will be thinner, lighter and will be metallic. We are coming up with some more details in the next couple of days. Stay tuned!
