Home > Fastest NetbookFastest Netbook - The best performer is?Update - In 2012 the fastest netbooks will have either the new Intel Atom processors named: Atom N2600 - 1.60GHz (dual core) or the AMD Fusion processors named: E450 - 1.65GHz (dual core) Update - As is typical, Intel has updated the Intel Atom processor with a new version. It's dual core and it's slightly faster than the previous N550 Atom processor. Fastest netbook computers got a bit faster over the past couple of months. Most of the Asus netbook models are available with the faster N570 which means you can get some great netbook deals on the N550 versions. That's our tip for you today! Here is a mini breakdown comparison of the fastest netbook with N550 Atom and the fastest netbook with the new N570 Atom. Atom N550 - 1.50 GHz Aside from the clock speed, you aren't going to have much difference in terms of the fastest netbook with an Atom processor. Buy the cheapest deal and don't bother paying more for the Atom N570 is our opinion. Update - Since our last update there have been some good improvements in the netbook category and premium netbook (12 inch and 11 inch) category. We will break down into the fastest netbook according to processor. Therefore there will be a fastest netbook Intel Atom, fastest netbook Intel Core, and fastest netbook AMD Fusion. We will also list here the fastest 10.1 inch netbook, 11.6 inch netbook and fastest 12 inch netbook. That should give you a good idea of the options out there. A few notes to consider. Fastest netbook means more expensive and less battery life. The more you move toward fastest, the price point rises and the battery life ultimately goes down. So for sure as you might expect there is a sacrifice you will have to make. It it your choice which is the most important feature and how far along the "fast" scale you want or need to go. It's a matter of give and take because you can't have your cake and eat it too. If the fastest netbook gives you 4 to 5 hours that isn't horrible by any stretch. Also remember that most netbooks in the lower price range come with 1GB of RAM which you should upgrade to 2GB or 4GB or even 8GB depending on the model. Most 10 inch netbooks will allow 2GB maximum. RAM is a cheap upgrade and if you're wanting the fastest. 1GB simply won't do the job. In addition, it's good to consider the speed or RPM of the hard drive. 7200 RPM will give you faster performance than the lower priced and more common 5400 RPM hard drives. Intel Atom Fastest Netbook:
About the fastest Intel Atom netbook computers: Intel Atom were not originally created for speed. But with all processors they eventually get faster. In the case of Intel Atom the fastest netbook really comes with an advanced Grahics Processing Unit (GPU) such as the Nvidia ION GPU. In fact ION is essentially your only Intel Atom option. The latest and greatest Atom processor is dual core. If you're wondering about the fastest 11 inch Atom netbook, you will have to dig around for refurbished or used. With that said, the HP Mini 311 is simply fantastic if you can find one. 10 Inch Netbook Asus Eee PC 1015PN (Atom N550 dual core 1.5GHz and Nvidia ION GPU) 11 Inch Netbook HP Mini 311 (Atom N270 1.6GHz + Nvidia ION Graphics) 12 Inch Netbook Asus Eee PC 1215N (Atom D525 dual core 1.8GHz) Intel Core Fastest Netbook:
About the Intel Core fastest netbook computers: Some would say a netbook is 10 inches and below. We however disagree. We think of netbooks as being highly portable and light laptops that are 12 inches and less. Even though an 11 inch or 12 inch netbook may be more expensive that typical netbooks, we like to consider these "premium" netbooks. Just because they have better spec doesn't mean they are not a secondary laptop that you will use outside of the home and not as a primary home computer. Without question the Intel Core netbooks will provide you with amazing speed. The best of the best for sure but as we state at the top of this page, with fast comes more expensive and less battery life. As politics play a role in netbooks, there are no 10 inch Intel Core processor netbooks available. I dare Intel to allow them but they won't. People might actually choose them over the 12 inch models (which happen to be... more expensive). 10 Inch Netbook n/a 11 Inch Netbook Alienware M11x (Intel Core i7 640UM 1.06GHz and GeForce GT335M) 12 Inch Netbook Lenovo ThinkPad X220 (Intel Core i5-2520M dual core 2.5GHz) AMD Fusion Netbook:
About the AMD fastest netbook computers: The new kid on the block is certainly the AMD netbooks with the new AMD Fusion processors. These are new and exciting netbooks so the reviews are trickling in. The battery life of the AMD Fusion netbooks is not widely known yet. Some of these have just come to market! The advantage to the AMD processors is that the netbooks will be more cheaply priced than Intel processor netbooks. In addition, AMD netbooks provide great video and graphics speed thanks to the ATI Radeon GPU which combines with the AMD Fusion processors. 10 Inch Netbook Acer AO522 (AMD C-50 and ATI Radeon HD 6250 GPU) 11 Inch Netbook Lenovo ThinkPad x120e 0611 (AMD E-350 dual core 1.6GHz and ATI Radeon HD 6310) 12 Inch Netbook Asus 1215B (AMD E-350 dual core 1.6GHz and ATI Radeon HD 6310) Update October 25, 2010 - Looking for the fastest netbook in the 10.1" size? If you're willing to spend a few extra bucks you can get a power packed Asus netbook model Asus Eee PC 1015PN. This baby packs the fast Nvidia ION graphics processing unit so it's going to blow every other netbook out of the water if you are looking for some HD video playback and 3D gaming abilities. It also packs the new Atom N550 dual core processor. It comes with 1 gig of ram, which you can increase to 2 gig's if you really want the fastest netbook to be even more fast. It all depends what you're willing to spend to get the fastest netbook possible.
For the price, the 1015PEM Asus netbook is the cheapest and fastest 10.1” netbook on the market currently. If you’re looking to spend a little bit more for a 10.1” netbook then the fastest netbook is the 1015PN from Asus.
The Asus netbook 1015PN has the Nvidia ION graphics processing unit and it’s comes with the brand new dual core Atom N550. With this configuration, the 1015PN Asus netbook provides the fastest gaming and fastest video performance. And thanks to the dual core Atom N550, this Asus netbook also is the fastest at multitasking. Up until late 2010, there really wasn’t a big gap in the fastest netbook in the 10.1” size. The HP 5103 did have the fastest 7200RPM hard drive, but it still was held back by the limited speed of the Atom processor. In late 2010 the first ever dual core netbooks hit the market. Those netbooks can perform faster at multitasking while still providing that amazing battery life. The fastest netbook up until now didn’t really exist largely because the netbooks were being powered by Intel. Unfortunately they didn’t have a push from somebody like AMD. This is about to change as AMD has promised a powerful new processor for netbooks that will be the fastest yet. Apparently it will provide the fast speed without sucking your battery dry in a couple hours. We shall see how this turns out in 2011. Once the netbook manufacturers update to the new Atom N550 dual core processor you likely will see a lot of sameness. Meaning al l the netbooks across the board will be faster without many really breaking out from the pack. AMD processors in netbooks will be the real tipping point I believe in how fast the fastest netbook becomes in 2011. There was a time in 2009 and early 2010 when you couldn't actually say what the fastest netbook is. The Intel Atom is not made for speed, but rather long battery life and low power usage. Now that it's late 2010/2011, the game has really changed. Now there are dual core Atom netbooks featuring the N550 processor. The 1.5GHz Atom N550 is about twice as fast as a 1.66 Intel Atom N450 processor. Of course on our site, we talk about premium netbooks which typically do not have the Atom processor. These can be fast but are they the fastest? We will break down all the options. Also keep in mind that netbooks with the Nvidia ION GPU are going to be about the fastest out there. Ultimately your definition of fastest is important here. Are you doing gaming? That would define what you want in terms of fastest. Or are you looking to do lots of multitasking or graphic editing? That would be a slightly different criteria for what is the fastest netbook in your mind. Don't worry. We will break it down so you know which will be the fastest netbook for your needs. There will likely be about 2 or 3 different categories. Right now the fastest netbook? Check the most recent released at Amazon.com because those will have the dual core N550 Atom processor. Speed and battery life together! So far Acer and Asus are first to hit the market.
